Send Check FAQs


What is Send Check? 

Send Check is M1's check-writing feature that allows you to send money and pay bills through your M1 Checking Account when a traditional check is the best option. 


Who can I send checks to? 

Send Check allows you to send money to individuals or businesses just by providing the name and mailing address of the desired recipient. 


How do I use Send Check? 

Send Check is available to M1 Plus clients 90 days after funds have been transferred onto the platform. 

1. Navigate to "Send Check" from the "Move Money" menu   

2. Create or select a recipient, set the dollar amount, and confirm the check.

How long will it take for my check to be delivered? 

It typically takes 5-7 business days for your check to be delivered to the recipient. For time-sensitive payments, we recommend sending your check a little earlier to help ensure it arrives on time.


What information can I find listed on the check?  

  • The address of our partner bank, Lincoln Savings Bank.  
  • M1's name and address  
  • The recipients' information  
  • Memo (if applicable)  
  • Your personal M1 Checking account and routing numbers will not be listed on the check as a different account and routing number are used for these checks.
    • Please refrain from using the account and routing number listed on the bottom of the check for anything else as the transaction won’t go through properly.

Who debits my account?  

M1 will debit your M1 Checking Account when the check is sent and show M1 as payer.   

If it is cancelled or returned for any reason, the funds will be returned to the account within two to three business days.  


Will my address be listed on the check?  

No, your residential address will not be included within the check.  


Is there a limit on how much I can send in a given period? 

Yes. Send Check allows you send up to $5,000 per day or $25,000 per month. 


Can I cancel a scheduled check? 

Yes. For up to 15 minutes after submitting a check request, you can easily cancel it within the app. Follow this step by step guide. 


Miss the cancellation window? No problem! If the “Cancel Check” button is not visible from the Check Details page, simply submit a stop payment request. Our team will take it from there and let you know when your request is complete. 


Keep in mind that all checks that are not cashed become void after 90 days.   


If I’m paying a bill, how will the recipient know that the payment is mine? 

Send Check allows you to add a memo line to your check.  

You can use the space to note an account number, invoice number, or any other important information to help process your payment.  


Why won't my check send?  

Clients will become eligible to use Send Check after 90 days of having a funded account on the M1 platform. Learn more here.
