Connecting and verifying my bank account 

There are two ways to set up your bank account with M1: instantly with Plaid or manually with micro-deposits. 

Plaid allows you to securely link your supporting bank account instantly using your online banking login credentials. 

Micro-deposits require your routing and account number and will take 1-2 business days.

 

Please make sure that: 

  1. Your bank account is supported by M1. 
  2. Your email is verified  

To connect your bank account to your M1 account, you must verify your email first.  

To verify your email, check to see if you received a verification email from M1 and click the link.  

If you have not received a verification email from us, contact us and we’ll manually verify your account.  

 

Connecting your bank to an Invest or M1 Checking Account  

1. Go to "Invest” or "Spend"

2. Click "Bank Connection"

4. Select your bank 

5. Enter your online banking credentials

7. Confirm your selection and you’re all set! You are now able to deposit money into your account

If your bank is not supported by Plaid, you can connect manually using micro-deposits 

To connect manually: 

  1. Go to "Invest” or "Spend"
  2. Click "Bank Connection"  
  3. Click "Connect manually"  
  4. Enter your account and routing numbers. 

After manually setting up your bank connection, you'll receive micro-deposits (two small deposits) to verify your bank account within 1-2 business days. 

 

Example 1: Sandra connects her bank on Monday using her routing and account number, she should expect to see the two small deposits in her bank account before the end of the day on Thursday. 

Example 2: Matthew connects his bank on Friday, he should expect to see the two small deposits before the following Wednesday. 

 

Once you've received the micro-deposits: 

  1. Log into your M1 account 
  2. Click "Invest" 
  3. Click "Bank Connection"  
  4. Click "Verify" 
  5. Enter in the value of the two small amounts that showed up in your bank account  

After three failed attempts, the micro-deposits will automatically be re-issued to your account.   

At this point, you will need to wait 1-2 business days for these new micro-deposits to show up in your account. 

To prevent this from happening, after 2 failed attempts please reach out to us! 

 

After you verify the micro-deposits, you can begin depositing. 

 

You can only connect one bank account to your M1 Account at a time.
