M1 Intelligence Memory

M1 Intelligence can remember things about you so your conversations feel more personal and relevant over time. Here's how it works.

What is memory?

Memory allows M1 Intelligence to retain information from your conversations — like your preferences, financial goals, or personal details — so you don't have to repeat yourself every time you chat.

There are two ways memories can be created:

  • Automatically from your chats — M1 Intelligence may recognize something worth saving during a conversation. If you have auto-save on, it will be saved automatically. If auto-save is off, you'll be prompted to save it manually.

  • Manually by you — You can add your own memories directly from the Memory settings screen at any time.

Saving your memories

Memories are stored as plain text and can cover just about anything.

Examples:

  • "I prefer Vanguard funds"

  • "I like to be called Taylor"

Memories can be saved automatically (if you have auto-save on) or saved manually when M1 Intelligence prompts you.

Managing your memories

You can view and manage your general memories anytime in Settings > M1 Intelligence > Memory. From there you can:

  • See all saved memories

  • Edit or delete individual memories

  • Turn auto-save on or off

Financial profile updates

M1 Intelligence may identify information that relates to your financial profile — like your income, net worth, or number of dependents. Rather than saving this as a memory, M1 Intelligence will ask if you'd like to update the relevant field in your profile directly.

Example: If you mention "My net worth is $500,000," M1 Intelligence may offer to update your net worth on your financial profile.

A few things to know about this type of update:

  • You must always confirm it. M1 Intelligence will never update your financial profile without your explicit approval.

  • Not everything can be changed this way. If a piece of information can't be edited in the M1 app (like your legal name), M1 Intelligence won't be able to change it either. You'll need to contact support for those updates.

  • These aren't stored as memories. Once confirmed, the information lives in your profile settings (like My Profile or My Finances) — not in your memory list.

Managing your financial profile information

For financial profile information, changes are managed in their respective settings screens (e.g., My Finances).

If information can't be edited in the M1 app (e.g., legal name), M1 Intelligence won't be able to change it either. You'll need to contact M1 Client Success for those updates.
