How to remove an entire Pie from your M1 portfolio

Updated over a month ago

You can remove a Pie from your M1 portfolio at any time. When you do, all securities within that Pie will be automatically sold. Proceeds will be reallocated to the rest of your portfolio based on your target allocations, regardless of your auto-invest settings.

What happens when you remove a Pie?

  • All securities in the Pie are sold.

  • Proceeds are reinvested according to your remaining allocation targets.

  • This process happens automatically, whether Auto-Invest is on or off.

Step-by-step: Removing a Pie from your portfolio

  1. Navigate to your portfolio.

  2. Select "Edit".

    1. On mobile, swipe up from the bottom of your screen to see the "Edit" button.

  3. Set the Pie’s target percentage to 0%.

  4. Adjust other Pies as needed to ensure your total allocation equals 100%.

  5. Select "Save" to confirm changes.

    1. This will submit a trade order to remove the Pie and rebalance your portfolio.

Can you remove all Pies from your portfolio?

No, your portfolio must always contain at least one Pie or Slice.

If you have only one Pie left, create a manual sell order for the remaining Slice or Pie.

Canceling a pending sell

If you change your mind after submitting a Pie removal:

  1. Navigate to your portfolio.

  2. Select "Edit".

  3. Add the removed Pie or Slice back to its original location in your portfolio before the next trade window.

    1. If a Custom Pie was removed, Edit the portfolio and add the Pie back to its original location from the My Pies section.

  4. Assign a nonzero percentage and Save.

If the next trade window has already been executed, the Slice or Pie removal can no longer be canceled.
