M1 buys investments in several situations:
The cash balance in your account exceeds your chosen minimum cash by $25 or more and Auto-invest is on.
Deposits, receiving dividends, or proceeds from manual sells can increase the cash in your account.
When you remove a Slice by changing its target percentage to 0%, the proceeds will automatically be reinvested in your portfolio, regardless of your Auto-invest settings.
If your dividend handling preferences instruct us to.

You can also manually buy individual investments or Slices of your Pie.
M1 sells investments in several situations:
When you request a withdrawal that exceeds your cash available for withdrawal
If you’ve run out of available cash and available margin in an investment account with a Margin Loan, we’ll sell investments to cover interest costs as a last resort.
If the platform fee is charged to an investment account with less than $3 cash available, investments may be sold to cover the fee. See our Platform Fee disclosures.

Brokerage accounts on the M1 platform are either fully disclosed to APEX Clearing or cleared through M1 Finance LLC. Please look at your account statement to determine how your account is cleared.
