What are Owner’s Rewards?

Owner’s Rewards* are cash back rewards for purchases made with the Owner’s Rewards Card by M1.

You’ll earn with every purchase you make at eligible businesses if you are an active M1 Plus member.

Rewards tiers
Owner’s Rewards will be assigned by stock ticker into one of three reward tiers:

Tier 1: 2.5% cash back

Tier 2: 5% cash back

Tier 3: 10% back

Purchases that qualify for Owner’s Rewards cannot also qualify for the standard 1.5% cash back.

Example: A purchase that qualifies for 10% in total rewards, will not receive the standard 1.5% cash back. The rewards will be 10%, not 11.5%.

 

*Owner's Rewards Card by M1 not available for US Territory Residents. 1.5%-10% credit card cash back rewards earned on eligible purchases subject to a maximum of $200 cash back per calendar month. How do I enroll in the Owner's Rewards program?

You’ll be automatically enrolled into the Owner’s Rewards program upon the approval and activation of your Owner’s Rewards Card by M1 if you are an active M1 Plus member.

 

How do I qualify for M1 Owner's Rewards?

To qualify for Owner’s Rewards, you will need to be an active M1 Plus member prior to making a purchase at eligible merchant brands.

For example, to earn 10% back at XYZ company, you’ll need to be an active M1 Plus member when you buy their products.

I'm missing rewards that I expected to receive

If you’ve made a purchase at a qualifying brand and you have not received the Owner’s Rewards that you expected, please contact us.

Please provide the following in your email:

  1. The purchase amount. Please approximate if you don’t know the exact amount.
  2. The selected merchant the purchase was made from.
  3. The expected Owner’s Rewards you believe you should have received.
  4. The date of the transaction.

All disputes must be made within 30 days of the rewards payout date in order to be investigated.

 

Will the brands and tiers in the Owner’s Rewards program change?

Yes, M1 will look to update the Owner's Rewards program brands and tiers from time to time to ensure the program remains aligned with M1 clients’ shopping and investing trends.

It’s our priority that we are deliver as much value as possible to our cardholders.

Changes are determined by a systematic process that considers the factors mentioned above.

 

Are there purchases that do not qualify for Owner's Rewards?

Purchases that do not qualify for Owner's Rewards include:

  • Purchases made while your account is not in good standing.
  • Purchases made from excluded merchants, including:
  • Gambling
  • Money transfers
  • Prepaid cards

Do purchases made through a third-party transaction service qualify for Owner’s Rewards?

Purchases made through third party transactions services such as PayPal, Shop Pay, and Affirm, do not qualify for Owner’s Rewards, even if they are linked to your Owner’s Rewards Card by M1. These purchases can qualify for standard rewards.

However, payments made through mobile wallets (Apple Pay, Samsung Pay, etc.) can qualify for Owner’s Rewards.

 

Where are my Owner's Rewards paid out?

By default, your Owner's Rewards will go to one of your eligible taxable M1 Invest Accounts. This account will automatically receive all your Owner’s Rewards.

 

Can I change where my Owner's Rewards go?

Follow the instructions below to see how you can change your rewards payment account.

  1. Navigate to the “Spend” tab
  2. Select “Rewards”
  3. Select “Payout location”

All eligible payment accounts will be available in the dropdown.

Owner’s Rewards cannot be paid out to an M1 Traditional IRA, M1 Roth IRA, M1 SEP IRA, M1 Trust Account or M1 Custodial Account.

 

I used my card at an Owner’s Rewards brand inside another store or venue and received 1.5% cashback.

Rewards are earned by using your Owner's Rewards Card by M1 directly with the merchant. When brands have locations at other stores, airports, hotels, stadiums, etc., those purchases are often not directly from the Owner’s Rewards brand, and can qualify for standard 1.5% cashback instead.

For example, if you make a purchase from a Starbucks at a hotel, the merchant will most likely be the hotel rather than Starbucks, so you will receive a standard 1.5% cashback instead of the 5% if you had purchased directly from Starbucks.

 

Where can I view my Owner’s Rewards?

To view your Owner's Rewards:

  1. Navigate to the “Spend” tab 
  2. Select the “Rewards” tab.
  3. Select the company that you own to see:
    - Transaction details
    - Transaction history

 

When can I expect to receive the Owner's Rewards that I’ve earned?

Owner's Rewards that you’ve earned will be transferred to your M1 Invest Account no later than 60 days from the transaction settlement date.

Is there a cap to the rewards I can earn?

There’s a $200 monthly cap on rewards. This includes standard 1.5% rewards and the Owner’s Rewards tiers, which range from 2.5%-10%.

Once you have reached the $200 threshold for that monthly rewards cycle, purchases aren’t eligible to earn rewards until the next cycle.

How long do I have to notify you of an issue with my rewards?

You'll have 30 days after receiving rewards to report any issues with your Owner’s Rewards or Standard Rewards.

If the issue is not reported within 30 days of payout, the dispute will not be investigated.

 

Do I get cash back if my purchase does not qualify for Owner’s Rewards?

Purchases that are not eligible for the Owner’s Rewards Program will receive the standard 1.5% cash back.
